FEEDS EXPLAINED

A content feed is a scrollable screen displaying either a grid or list of digital branded content from most recent (by publication date) to oldest.

Use content feeds when you want to browse and discover content article-by-article, and when you want to drill down to view detailed analytics for your chosen article or campaign.

Alternatively, use dashboards if you prefer summary information, charts and tables.

ACCESSING CONTENT FEEDS

Select ‘Feeds’ from the main menu. This may be pre-selected, as it is the default screen after logging in.

Clicking on the Feeds icon displays the feed ‘launcher’, i.e. the panel that expands to the right of the main menu.

The launcher shows which feed is currently being displayed (the default feed is ‘Total Content’), and it also lists other available feeds under two headings:

My Feeds

Feeds that you created and saved, but have not shared with other Contalto users in your organization. This area will be blank until you create your first feed.

Organization Feeds

Feeds that were either created by other users in your organization, or by Contalto staff at the time of onboarding your organization.

Organization feeds will either be badged with the initials of the user who created the feed, or with an edit icon. The latter indicates that you created the feed and can therefore edit it.

The ‘Volume’ column indicates the current total number of branded content items held in the Contalto database for each respective feed.

FEED DISPLAY

Content feeds are shown as a grid of image tiles (the default setting), with each image representing a single branded content item (whether an article or a social post).

Clicking the settings icon on the toolbar lets users switch between grid and list view.

In list view, users can specify what information is shown by toggling columns on or off, and by dragging them up or down to reorder them.

Note: User-defined column display settings are only valid while in the application. Once the feed is exported as an Excel or CSV file, all columns are included in a pre-set order.

When in ‘Grid’ display mode, users also have the option to aggregate individual branded content items (articles and social posts) into their respective campaigns. As per the image below, each tile in the grid now represents a campaign.

TIP: With feeds in ‘Items’ display mode, clicking an image tile (or a row in list view) will drill down to the analytics for the selected branded content item only, i.e. a single web article. When in ‘Campaigns’ mode, however, the user can click through to see the analytics for the whole of the campaign in question.

CAUTION: Analytics for Items and Campaigns are only available for ‘Full’ publishers, and not ‘Standard’ publishers. Click here to view the respective publisher lists.

FEED DETAILS

The image tiles in content feeds give the following at-a-glance information…

Note: information display is different when feed is in ‘list’ mode (see here).

Publisher-hosted web articles are identified by the absence of a social platform logo in the bottom-left corner of the image.

To restrict the feed to only the platform(s) that you are interested in, click in the toolbar at the top of the screen to make your selection.

TILE ACTIONS for WEB ARTICLES

With your cursor, hover over any image tile to reveal multiple actions…

Clicking directly on the tile will launch the item details screen in a new browser tab. The item and campaign details screens are covered in this dedicated article.

Note: Screenshots are available only for ‘Full’ publishers and not ‘Standard’ publishers. Click here to see the list of publishers by type.

TILE ACTIONS for SOCIAL POSTS

Hovering over social posts in the content feed yields the following actions…

Note: The number of possible actions will be fewer than in the image above if the URL contained in the post does not link to a web article in the Contalto database, or if the post contains no link at all.
