Contalto's Dashboards do the work of aggregating branded content, analysing the mass of data, and presenting this as a series of widgets containing charts, tables and rankers.

Six different types of dashboard are available, each of which can be customised.

Dashboards are a valuable, time-saving feature, whether your focus is at the brand, publisher or publisher genre level, or you need to know what's happening at the sector, theme or overall market level.

Dashboards can be downloaded, shared or automated, depending on your needs.

Note: Dashboards are available to 'Full' account holders only, i.e. not ‘Core’ accounts.

Dashboard Launchers

Clicking on any of the dashboard icons in the main menu opens a panel known as a ‘launcher’ from where you can choose what to include in your dashboard.

The one exception to this is the Overview dashboard, which has no options, as it's designed to include everything in our database.

Let's launch a dashboard…

In this example, we'll choose a Brand dashboard, i.e. a dashboard showing an analysis of all branded content for a given brand or brand group.

The Brand dashboard launcher allows users to switch between a list of brands (the default) and a list of brand groups (where all brands belonging to a specific master brand or advertiser are grouped together).

Although it's possible to scroll down the lists, we recommend typing the brand you're looking for in the search bar. With close to 30,000 brands in our database, this avoids a lot of scrolling!

Make your selection from the resulting list, and the dashboard will appear to the right of the launcher.

We recommend closing the launcher (via the ‘X’ top-left) to free up more screen space for the dashboard to display correctly.

In the Header…

Each dashboard is described below, but it's worth noting some useful features within the dashboard header.

Downloads: as per the image below, dashboards can be downloaded instantly, or scheduled for delivery via a download link (see the Notifications guide for details).

Analysis Period: note that the default period for all dashboards is the past 12 months (P12M), but this can be changed via the calendar button on the toolbar. The exception to this rule is the Overview dashboard, who's default period is the past 6 months.

Benchmarks: In Brand and Publisher dashboards, the header also indicates the active benchmark. Click the box below to learn more about benchmarks.

Benchmarks

Benchmarks are available in Brand and Publisher dashboards, allowing for easy comparison of individual brands or publishers against broad averages.

BENCHMARKS DEFINED

Contalto's Benchmarks are effectively industry averages for Content Analytics scores, as well as some metadata values.

They are contextual in that they are calculated for the relevant brand sector or sub-sector, or publisher genre. In the example below, the Switzerland Tourism brand is automatically benchmarked against all brands belonging to the ‘National Tourism Promotion’ sub-sector, which is also user-switchable to the broader ‘Travel & Tourism’ sector.

The active benchmark is displayed top-right, together with the Analysis Period.

BENCHMARK DISPLAY

Benchmarks are displayed either numerically (for metadata) or graphically (for content analytics) in a dark pink colour.

Benchmark display in metadata

Read as…
This brand or publisher had 111 items of branded content, which is more than double the benchmark of 53.

This brand or publisher's average word count per article is 1000 versus the benchmark of 881.

Benchmark display in content analytics:

Read as…
The Archetype scores for this brand or publisher are all above the benchmark - especially so for the ‘Informative’ archetype.

The branding level for this brand or publisher is around twice that of the benchmark.

Custom Dashboards

Contalto lets you customize and save dashboards according to your needs. Here's how…

1) Launch a dashboard

Launch a dashboard from any of the 6 types in the main menu. The dashboard already has at least one filter applied. As per the example below, this Sector dashboard is filtered on the Technology sector, which the user selected in the dashboard launcher. The only exception to this is the Overview dashboard, which is unfiltered.

2) Add Filters

After clicking the filter button in the Toolbar, we can now add one or more filters of the same type, i.e. other sectors in this case, or add filters of a different type.

3) Save to My Dashboards

In the example above, we've added the B2B target filter, meaning that the dashboard will analyse and display all branded content from brands in the technology sector, that is B2B targeted. Once happy with our filters, we can click the ‘Save Custom Dashboard’ button, name our dashboard, and click ‘Save’.

After saving, your custom dashboards can be accessed via the ‘My Dashboards’ icon in the main menu.

Hover over the ‘Settings’ text next to the dashboard name to view the available options. You can now share your dashboard with other Contalto users in your organization, rename or delete the dashboard.

Dashboards in detail

Learn more about each dashboard, its launcher and contents…

Overview

As the name implies, the Overview dashboard provides a broad market view of branded content activity.

All content from all brands on all monitored publishers and their social media channels is included.

The default analysis period is the past 6 months (P6M), but this can be changed via the period button in the toolbar.

Note that the base data for some widgets within the dashboard is restricted to either web articles or social posts, as per the example below.

As with all Contalto dashboards, the dark pink text in the widget titles indicates that multiple display options are available.

Please allow some time for the Overview dashboard to load. It analyses a lot of data, which takes a few seconds, or even 1+ minutes (depending on connection speed) to load.

Brands

The Brands dashboard presents an analysis of all branded contact activity* for a given brand or brand group

*content published on monitored publishers and their social media accounts.

The default analysis period is the past 12 months (P6M), but this can be changed via the period button in the toolbar.

In the Brands dashboard launcher, use the switch at the top to list either individual brands (the default) or brand groups (where brands belonging to a master brand or advertiser are grouped together).

Although it's possible to scroll down the lists, we recommend typing the brand you're looking for in the search bar. With close to 30,000 brands in our database, this avoids a lot of scrolling!

As with all Contalto dashboards, the dark pink text in the widget titles indicates that multiple display options are available. Hover the text to reveal the options.

In all dashboards other than the Overview, a scrollable feed of content conforming to the dashboard's criteria is displayed below the data widgets.

Publishers

The Publishers dashboard presents an analysis of all branded contact activity hosted by a given publisher, either directly on its website, or via its social media channels.

In the Publishers dashboard launcher, use the switch at the top to list either individual publishers (the default) or publisher groups (where individual publisher titles belonging to a larger publishing or media company are grouped together).

Either scroll down the publisher or group lists, or type the publisher/group you're looking for in the search bar.

Note that publisher names in blue text denote ‘Full’ publishers, for which full analytics are available. Publishers in black text are ‘Standard’ publishers with more limited data.
